The value for the visitor and the owner

The visitor benefits from better-organized work: the manager notices a queue at the entrance and can adjust how many staff are on the floor. At the same time, a customer neither needs nor should be given access to video from the sales floor.

The owner of a chain gets a single overview of opening, the public areas and back-of-house receiving. A recording helps you reconstruct the circumstances of an organizational event, but it is not used to draw medical conclusions and it does not replace the mandatory logbooks.

Private mode

For pharmacies, internal access only is the safe starting point. Even a neutral field of view should be reviewed with a lawyer or the person responsible for personal data.

Existing cameras

A camera with an accessible RTSP stream can be connected to rtsp.me without replacing the recorder. Before you connect it, check that prescriptions, documents, screens, receipts, payment details and the labelling of medicines in a particular visitor's hands are not legible.

It is better to use a wide view of the entrance or of back-of-house logistics than a camera above the till. Quality and continuity depend on the original equipment, the power supply and the network; a cloud service cannot recover video that the camera never sent.

Five steps to connect

1. Document the purpose, the legal basis, the people responsible and the shortest necessary retention period.
2. Choose a wide field of view, switch audio off and keep prescriptions, consultations, screens and payments out of it.
3. Check the RTSP stream and add the camera to your account at rtsp.me.
4. Set up private access, the archive and alerts for approved staff only.
5. Run an access review, put up the required notices and revisit the settings regularly.

Do not use shared accounts and do not pass links around in unmanaged chats. Revoking a member of staff's rights should be part of the process when they leave or change role.

Permitted areas and tasks

The till, the prescription area, private consultations, documents and screens all have to be excluded from the view. Cameras do not monitor storage temperature, the authenticity of a medicine, whether it was dispensed correctly, or whether an item is in stock.

Archive, monitoring and confidentiality

The archive holds footage that may indirectly reveal information about health. Use the shortest period, a strict role model and an established procedure for releasing a recording. Every viewing should have a business purpose.

Monitoring tells you that a camera has stopped sending its stream, but it does not replace alarm systems, temperature control, a panic button or pharmaceutical procedures. If the local network goes down, the cloud recording will have a gap.

Switch audio off, avoid close-ups of faces and do not use the stream to profile customers. A password and a domain restriction help protect viewing, but they do not replace a risk assessment, notices or organizational measures.
